"Sing & Run" in China

photo

Singing on the Great Wall of China

Our summer short term team was from the choir of Rolling Hills Covenant church in Los Angeles, led by Pastor David Halverson. They were really good! We had scheduled them to sing in 7 churches, an orphanage & a restaurant. They were well received by the believers, truly a blessing to all that they ministered to.

We also did what we call flash mob evangelism, singing in public places. They chose an amazing song from Psalm 91called We Will Rest in the Shadow of the Almighty,  a song done in all 4 parts with a big ending. As you probably know any kind of public evangelism is strictly forbidden in China, so we came to call it Sing & Run. :o) We sang in many different places: the Great Wall, our Hotel lobby, places where we ate, and yes, even Starbucks! It was so well received, people got out their cell phones & took pictures & we were always greeted with cheers & applause every time we sang. What a huge blessing it was for us to be so well received and to fill up cold lifeless places with the sound of scripture!

If you would like to hear a part of the song click on the picture, be sure to wait for it to download, it may take a minute or so. Don't forget to turn up your sound!

Pastor Luke Preaches in China

Many respond to the good news as Pastor Luke gives the invitation!

This summer pastor Luke Zhang had a busy schedule as usual.  In the beginning of July, he was on the east coast working with several Chinese churches in evangelism and training. Toward the end of July he was in Asia (Thailand and China), working with house church leaders in leadership training and church planting.  In August, he was in Greece, walking the steps of Apostle Paul in reaching out to the Chinese community in Corinth, Thessalonia, etc.  Those places were greatly used by God in Biblical times, and were like bridges that linked Israel to what is now Europe.  God still remembers these people (both Chinese and Greek) who live there and want to save them, and He has a plan for them (using Chinese to minister to the locals).  Please pray for Luke's ministry, good health, spiritual wisdom and strength. Also for Jenny and the kids as he travels.  Most importantly, please pray for the Holy Spirit to work in people's hearts so that they are more sensitive to Him.
